Last summer, I was lucky enough to photograph Bea’s senior portraits in downtown Eau Claire and at Lake Wissota State Park, and honestly, we had the absolute best time.
Even though it was your typical warm and humid Wisconsin summer evening, it turned out to be absolutely gorgeous. Those glowy summer nights always make for some of my favorite senior sessions.
Bea attended Stanley-Boyd High School and came to Eau Claire for her senior session with me. I feel incredibly lucky to work with seniors from all over the area, and one of my favorite parts of the process is helping each senior choose locations that fit their personality and style.
Bea brought several different outfits to her session, and together we picked out a few that looked amazing both on her and in the locations we chose. I love helping seniors narrow down outfit choices because sometimes what looks great on a hanger isn’t always what photographs best, and having options gives us so much flexibility during a session.
One of my favorite details from Bea’s session was that she chose to include her prom dress in some of her senior portraits.
Honestly, I love this idea.
Prom dresses usually have so much time, money, and effort invested in them, so I always think it’s nice to have one more chance to wear them again. Plus, there is just something about the juxtaposition of a formal dress against a big open field that gets me every time. It creates such a fun mix of elegant and natural, and it is easily one of my favorite senior photo looks.
Between the downtown Eau Claire backdrop and the beautiful scenery at Lake Wissota, this session had the perfect mix of urban and nature-inspired photos. I absolutely loved this glowy senior session with Bea and am so excited to share a few sneak peeks.
