Family Mini Sessions at Pondview Lavender Farm

I shoot family mini sessions several times throughout the year, and honestly, I always really enjoy them. Sometimes those fast-paced, shorter sessions are exactly what I need to keep me thinking on my toes, and I love getting to meet so many different families along the way.

One of my favorite things about mini sessions is how much variety I get to see. From adults taking photos with their dogs to brand-new parents documenting life with their newborns for the very first time, every session feels a little different and brings its own personality.

Last year, though, some of my absolute favorite mini sessions happened at Pondview Lavender Farm near Eau Claire, Wisconsin.

Why I Loved Shooting at Pondview Lavender Farm

I absolutely loved photographing at the lavender farm. The lavender created such a beautiful and unique backdrop, and the soft colors worked perfectly with my light and airy style. I especially loved being able to incorporate little lavender details throughout everyone’s galleries. It added such a dreamy and summery feel to the photos.

The farm itself made such a gorgeous setting for family photos and gave us plenty of beautiful spots to work with during our short mini sessions.

A Sweet Family Session

This family was one of the sweet groups I photographed during those lavender farm mini sessions.

One of the things I loved most about this session was seeing the sibling personalities shine through. Big brother was completely on board and all about having his photo taken, while little sister was a bit more camera shy at first.

And honestly? That is completely normal.

One of the things I always remind parents is that kids do not need to show up perfectly photo-ready for us to create beautiful images together. We worked as a team during this 15-minute mini session to help her feel comfortable, and her big brother was such a sweet helper along the way.

By the end of the session, we were able to capture portraits of both kids individually, photos of the whole family together, and even some sweet portraits of mom and dad alone.

Those little moments of connection always end up being some of my favorite images.
